Kvickstance is a Maya plug-in made with Python. It allows the user to create geometry (for an example a bolt) and then instance that to another mesh's surface (for an example a submarine). The instances will align to the selected surface. The user can also chose to duplicate the mesh (instead of instancing it) and the user can also choose what axis (or axes) he or she wants the meshes to align to. Note that it's possible to change instances, which is a powerful feature if you want to instance hundreds instances of the same object and then make changes afterwards. The plug-in also works on curves, so i is possible to draw curves on objects and then instance objects to those curves.
