I worked as a lighter and environment artist for both season 2 and 3 of Lost In Space at Important Looking Pirates. Below is a breakdown showing the Alpha Centauri environment me and two others built in Houdini.
We started off with finding map data, and then we used Houdini's terrain tools to piece the mountains e.t.c. together. Then we created and applied a procedural material to the environment and scattered a lot of vegetation to create this landscape. We rendered this with Arnold.
